I am a member of the Reasoning and Planning Group in the
Department of Informatics at
King's College London.
My work focuses on strategic leadership across education, research, and external engagement in a research‑intensive
university setting. I have led major initiatives in doctoral training, including co‑directing the £6.9 million UKRI
Centre for Doctoral Training in Safe and Trusted AI, and played a central role in designing and launching King’s
undergraduate and master’s programmes in Artificial Intelligence. I am committed to responsible innovation, institutional
delivery, and impactful engagement with industry, the public sector, and international partners.
My main research is in Artificial Intelligence, more specifically in knowledge
representation and reasoning, the formalisation of the common-sense reasoning, non-monotonic reasoning,
and computational and numerical aspects of argumentation.
My recent work revolves around argumentation theory, quality assurance in Wikidata, various issues in fairness
of algorithmic decision making systems and bias mitigation, and imitation learning. I have also an interest
in neuro-symbolic integration, optimisation and agent technologies.
I am currently Deputy Head of the Department of Informatics (Enterprise & Engagement) at King’s College London.
I was Director of Studies of the BSc
and MSci Programmes in Artificial Intelligence in 2022 and 2023. From 2019 until 2023 I was co-Director of the
UKRI Centre for Doctoral Studies in Safe and Trusted Artificial Intelligence
and Chair of the Mitigating Circumstances Board in the Department of Informatics. Before that I undertook several academic roles
including Chair of the High-Performance Computing (HPC) & eResearch Group from 2018 until 2020 and Chair of the Computing
Committee of the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences
from 2013 until 2017. I have been a fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2010.
